About Anna Ashton
Anna Ashton
Anna Ashton is the founder of Ashton Analytics and a risk consultant specializing in China geopolitics and policy. She provides analysis and advisory services for businesses and investors, with particular focus on China policy, U.S.-China competition, critical minerals, trade, and market-relevant geopolitical risk.
She is also an adjunct professor at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, where she teaches about the geopolitics of critical minerals competition. Prior to founding Ashton Analytics in 2024, Anna served as a senior director of the China research team at Eurasia Group. She was previously a senior fellow at the Asia Society Policy Institute and vice president of government affairs for the U.S.-China Business Council.
Earlier in her career, Anna worked as a China intelligence officer for the Department of Defense, supported Asian investment recruitment for Arkansas, and held policy roles connected to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission.
Anna holds a JD from Georgetown Law with a certificate in World Trade Organization studies, an MA in East Asian Languages and Civilizations from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and a BA in Chinese Studies from Wellesley College.
